How should I go about buying a car?

I really need a car so I can start going to cosmetology school but I don't have credit or a co signer, I make about 1400 a month and I usually don't have a lot to spare after rent and bills. I just want a moderately cheap car probably less than $2,000. Is there any way of attaining this soon? I start school in 2 months so I'm really on a time crunch. I don't really know the options out there as far as automobile go.
