Raw Oysters in Meals? Does it fall into the appetizer category or main course category?
Probably best served as an appetizer, unless you have access to good oysters you can buy by the sack. In that case, invite everyone you know over for raw oysters. A good sauce can be made for the shy people that don't have the stomach for raw things alone with ketchup, horseradish - the cream style in a jar - and some lemon juice and tabasco or your favorite hot sauce. Use all to taste. Good food is what you like, the way you like it. There are several recipes for 'raw' oysters, that include some cooking. Oysters Rockefeller is a good one. The raw oysters are topped with a savory mixture and broiled briefly. Get a recipe online, there are many. People with liver problems should not eat raw oysters. Neither should anyone with an auto-immune disorder. Not good for babies under a couple of years old. Best oysters are bought in months that don't have an "R" in the name of the month. This confines the season to any month but summer ones, June, July, August, don't have any "R"s in them.
